Welcome to our Art & Design page. Here you can find lots of information about Art & Design across our school.
At Bowburn Primary School, we value Art and Design as an important part of our broad and balanced curriculum. We aim to provide the children with opportunities to develop and extend their knowledge, skills and creativity through a variety of new opportunities – both in class and through links with local artists and art organisations. By following our curriculum, children will build the confidence to take risks and turn ‘mistakes’ into successes, whilst also expressing their individual interests, thoughts and ideas through experimentation. Children have the opportunity to develop and appreciate their own style of art, as well as understand how diverse and creative the subject is. Overall, we aim to provide a high-quality art and design education which engages, inspires and challenges pupils to be ambitious. As pupils progress through the key stages, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of Art and Design.
Our curriculum focusses on providing children with all of the important skills and knowledge they need in the subject, to allow every child the opportunity to succeed and make progress from EYFS to Year 6.
Our Art & Design lead is Mrs Welch.
