Welcome to our PSHE page. Here you can find lots of information about PSHE across Bowburn Primary School.
At Bowburn Primary School, we believe that promoting the health and wellbeing of our children is a vital part of their overall education. We achieve this through a comprehensively taught programme of Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education. The aim is to give our children the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills and strategies to live healthy, safe, productive and fulfilled lives – now and in the future. PSHE at Bowburn Primary school enables our children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society.
Our PSHE Lead is Mrs J Foster
Our PSHE curriculum and how it is taught
PSHE is a broad subject and covers the areas: physical and mental health, growing and changing, personal safety, relationships, bullying and discrimination, media and digital literacy, money and careers, and community. In Y1 to Y6 PSHE lessons are taught weekly. Teaching staff follow our school’s PSHE curriculum, which is a carefully planned series of lessons. Resources and teaching materials used to teach lessons are appropriate for the age and maturity of the class. Each term, all classes from Y1 to Y6 cover objectives from the same core theme which ensures skills, knowledge and attitudes are revisited and embedded. This also enables us to carry out whole school activities and national initiatives, such as Mental Health Day, Children in Need, class assemblies and events with a common theme. It also allows the subject lead to monitor delivery and progression in a clear and purposeful way.
