Curriculum Statement

At Bowburn Primary School, we aim to provide a curriculum that inspires every pupil in our school.  We are committed to ensuring that all pupils can access and enjoy their learning.  Following a consultation of governors, staff, parents, and of course pupils, we have a clear idea of what we all want from our curriculum, for our children.

Our curriculum is shaped by key drivers:

Wider Curriculum

At Bowburn Primary School, we have a wider curriculum offer, which is driven by our curriculum drivers (above).  We believe that pupils flourish in outdoor and adventurous environments, as well as during practical learning.

Therefore, in class lessons are as practical and exciting as possible, with a focus on real life experiences.

In addition, our pupils have enrichment lessons, including cookery and forest school..

Our on-site school woodland area has excellent facilities for the children to explore and get in touch with nature.

We also value trips and residentials as another opportunity to develop teamwork skills and resilience.

In addition, every year group has music tuition from Durham Music Service and a large number of our children play in our weekly Rock Steady Garage Band.

Finally, we have a wide variety of after school clubs, ranging from karaoke, reading, creative writing, forest schools and sports.
