At Bowburn Primary School we have an active school council who meet regularly to share the views of their classmates and work alongside adults to improve our school.
In October the children in Year 1 to Year 6 took part in the election of their school councillors. They found out about the role of a school councillor and talked about what makes a good councillor. After that a total of one hundred and one children nominated themselves as candidates to stand for the school councillor for their class!
Election day arrived and the hall was turned into a polling station. A secret ballot took place and after the children had voted, the ballot papers were counted.
The following day Mrs Foster read the results of the election and the new school councillors received a special badge to wear.
Congratulations to our twelve new school councillors!!!
